Wow! I knew I should have chosen a larger size of shirt. You might be thinking that as you look at this picture. It is just a pic off the Internet so before you personalize it too much....it could be you.
I was having a conversation the other day with a close friend and in the time it took to say Big Mac, a disclosure came out that has made me stop and think. The disclosure was that my lifestyle is obese. This friend was not saying I was obese, just my lifestyle. In other words....there is just way too much in my daily life to look anything like a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus never rushed anywhere. He never took on more than he could accomplish because he was always in sync with His Heavenly Father! So here is the rational that I have been thinking about.....If the life of Jesus was healthy and guided by God(which I believe it was) and I'm a follower of Jesus Christ(and I am) then my lifestyle must look like that of Jesus Christ. Not obese with activities and things to do....but guided....doing the right things....loving mercy......and walking humbly with God. That type of lifestyle is going to keep me from looking like this businessman. Always running...never walking!
Seems to me that I need to go on a diet.....a schedule diet! I need to get my activities in line with what God requires....not what the demands of the day are! It seems to me that if I seek to be more in step with God...he will give me wisdom, discernment, and courage to say no to the things I shouldn't do....that's right...there are things a pastor shouldn't do....even of they are good things.....and do what is right for God's path for today.
I'm thankful that I have a friend that was able to see past the trim outer look of my body and see the obesity in my life. As for you...consider me a friend and see if this applies to you.
Blessings,
trimming down my lifestyle.
Pastor Brian
