Does Anyone Read Blogs Anymore?

The title is a legitimate question!  Does anyone read Blogs anymore when we are connected with Facebook pages, texts, tweets and a whole plethora of other options for connecting and communication?  I look around and people have their heads down many days as they are devoted to the latest text that comes from a friend somewhere that is of utmost importance.
When I look at this blog listing for our church, I wonder if anyone really reads it now or has this become "passé" or "obsolete" or "old school" compared to the new and improved methods of communication?  I wonder because I find that many of our communication skills are diminishing over time and not really improving.
I also am concerned with the number of people that are settling for short snippets of life compared to a nice flowing dialogue that can happen between two people, or in the case of those of us who have given our lives over to Jesus....the daily dialogue with him, are robbing themselves of what is available.  Recently I have been involved in a life group that is looking intently at the task of uncluttering our souls so that there is time and space for our devotion to Jesus.  It seems to be easy to grab a moment here and there with Jesus relationally and yet not really grow deeper or more intimate with him as we spend time in reading his revealed will to us and the history of how he has operated in the past through the record of the Bible.  There is also the aspect of prayer!  Those moments that we intentionally take the moment to speak to God about our life in some form and then to listen to what He might have to say to us.  Some people balk at the concept of God speaking to us and the possible danger of hearing any number of scary voices, but scripture tells us that the Shepherd speaks to us as his sheep and he directs us. John 10:27 from the English Standard Version of the Bible reads like this, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
There is something about hearing your name spoken or called out that connects with our being.  So when the creator of the universe and saviour of our souls calls out our name....I think it's a good idea that we listen.  Listening is part of any relationship that is meaningful so I encourage you today to develop a flowing ongoing dialogue with God throughout your day so that the connectedness that He desires can be established in your life.
Reading a blog may give you insights to life or information, but a relationship and communication with the Living Jesus....now that is something to blog about.
May today you hear His voice and respond to Him.
In His Grace,

Pastor Brian
