The western world seems to be focused on resources these days. What....with the near collapse of the economy in the United States and the down and down of the stock market, it seems like most everybody is focused on resources. As people see their resources shrink daily, the natural reaction is to hold on tighter. However....let me suggest a better way.
For those who are followers of Jesus Christ, there is a calm assurance that all we own, or manage is a better word, is the property of God Himself and we are to use those resources according to His will. It would therefore make spiritual sense, that when things are tight and everyone seems to be worried about their resources that Christians were out there being generous with what they have been given. I'm not saying that we need to throw money or resources away, just be generous with them in a way that clearly demonstrates that even though it appears that our resources are shrinking, we still have hope in God and see the resources that he has provided to share with those in need.
I invite you today to slow down and look around at the resources that He (God) has given to us and intentionally make a donation to the society in which we live.
A donation of Hope in a God that does not change when the stock market is uncertain.
A God that does not worry about the price of gas today, or tomorrow.
A God that has a love for each person and desires that they see Him as the One in which to place their hope in a world that is searching for signs of hope.
Today, see the resources that God has personally given to you and give thanks. We are indeed rich in resources of money, gifts, time, people and a God who according to 1 Peter 1:3, "has given us everything we need for life and godliness." What more could we ask for?
Enjoy the day. Intentionally choose the attitude of gratitude and smile, it really is a great day.
Resist Scarcity thinking and realize the resources around us...enough to share.Resting in His presence which is all the resource I need,
Pastor Brian
